    after reading CJ the X’s essay on what to do about the state of social media, i decided to make my own website. once i get the hang of wordpress, i plan to post a lot of my artistic endeavours here, as well as likely updates for all things tupaj

    if you don’t know what tupaj is, that’s my name. hi

    i make art stuff. i’ve made a good number of short films and music videos, i play bass, electric guitar, and piano (learning clarinet and drums) in a band or two (always looking for someone to jam with!), i embroider my clothes, i graphic design a little, photograph a little,  smooch my dog on the forehead, involve myself in community events, and when the roads are clear enough i’m ranging the town on my bike. im pretty much the coolest person you know.

    i’m also spearheading an artist collective called REVERB STUDIOS COLLECTIVE. this is where me and my friends post our art. do you need a place to host your art with a growing audience? do you have a short film script, photoshoot ideas, or something else cool you want to work on together? submit a comment on this website or contact me on instagram @reverbstudioscollective   @thetupaj

    last spring, i agreed to shooting a short film with the intent of a 2-minute artistic passion project. it ended up being a feature length film, which we shot hastily over the summer, and i’m now left with the behemoth task of editing it, which feels like it’ll never be over. a large part of me wants to never touch this ever again but it’s not a solo project, and several other people have put the best of their artistic minds to this feature, so i feel bad not working on it as they deserve to have their work seen. honestly if i were getting paid to edit a project like this, i would want nothing less than $1000 for my time and effort, so as i write this i’ve decided to put this project fully on hold. i know that i’ll complete it in time, but i need to rekindle my passion!

    a lot of people have reached out to me in the last month about doing something fun and artistic over the summer, and i’m ready to meet with these people and make some magic happen! this might look like working on music, or making another music video, or a SHORT short film, or messing with a medium i’ve never even considered. this is going to be a very fun summer for myself and i look forward to everything that’s about to happen.

    i’ve been getting better at stating my boundaries and holding my own, and i know when a project becomes too big for me.

    happy may! here i am updating my blog for the first time in a serious manner. what are my updates? well just let me tell you:

    i have a new love interest, love is blossoming like perhaps a flower. WOW!! me and my friends are organizing a young adult soccer league. we want to play soccer but we don’t want to join someone else’s league. we are all going to be bad at it but we are going to try so hard. maybe next time we will play dodgeball and then maybe capture the flag. so yeah… tomorrow i am going on a date with The Woman that i’m seeinf. we are going to do some art together and maybe i will post what we make here or maybe i will not! i will not be bound to the commitment of updating my website! i will not be bound to technology! i have a commitment to myself first!

    i was sick last week and my friend ana brought me this care package which was very nice. i also bought a mac mini and i hope to be working on more video projects pretty soon now that i have more editing power! i will also maybe buy a copy of logic pro and get more pro with my music. maybe.

    i am chilling and vibing. i am doing some scary new things, but i know that giving myself time to sit with things and pacing myself are a key part of living with ease. all of my friends are each going through their own changes and i am immensely proud to go through my life with them. i am so excited to see what happens next in our lives.
